Double Trouble: Chapter 51 by Jon Keys

Josh and Mitch took turns with Darren and Trent to keep an eye on the twins. Ever since Mitch had pointed out that they might not be as innocent as they’d thought, he and Trent had become two over protective dads.

Josh stood next to the punch bowl and glared the the boy Samantha had brought each time they came close. He was pretty certain the boy was getting to be a nervous wreck, which suited him just fine. But he decided he should dial it down a little, Samantha shot him a glance that didn’t bode well for when the party was over. He spotted Mitch in a darkened corner and joined him.

The Caretaker: Chapter 4 by Rob Colton

 “Chris? What are you doing?”

The warble in my voice gave away how nervous I was.

I felt the bed dip with Chris’s weight, and I was keenly aware of his closeness. I could feel the heat of his body. I could smell his odor, a combination of musk and sweat. He clearly hadn’t showered since the fight.

“I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

That did not sound like Chris. “Did Grant send you in here?”

 “Yes.”

 “Figures.”

“Look, both of us want you to be okay. But we also need to make sure the things you’ve seen are kept secret.”

Jordan’s Second Chance 5.0 by TC Collins

“Nana!” Wynter gasped, rushing toward the fallen woman, Jonas kneeling on the other side.
Wynter gently shoot Nana, concerned with the pallor of her skin. Nana moaned, brushing Wynter’s hands away.  “Stop worrying, I’m fine,” Nana said, struggling into a sitting position. Jonas placed a hand behind her back, helping her to sit up.
“Nana, what happened? You said, ‘he’s back’, who’s he?”
“Jason Fox,” Nana whispered, trembling.
“That’s the man who killed my parents, isn’t it?” Wynter gasped.

Fortitude: Part Forty-nine by Cia Nordwell

Wildman set a brutal pace. For such a small, wiry guy, he could really move. I couldn’t go on much longer, and we were already deep in the jungle. “Can we take a break?” I gasped. I stumbled into a tree and stopped, my shoulder throbbing. Without its support, I probably would’ve dropped to my knees.

“We’re exhausted.” Teddy hadn’t said anything, but his feet had started dragging, leaving furrows in the thick loam. I hitched him closer to my side; my muscles burned, and my arm felt like it was going to fall off.

“Not there.”

I rested my

To Be Determined: Part 3 by Johayan

I ducked into the bedroom and got dressed, pausing long enough to find out that I should were something nice but casual. I came out wearing a pair of khaki shorts and a striped polo shirt.

Rowdy looked up from the coffee table book he was flipping through and smiled.

“You look far more handsome dressed like that than you do dressed for that office job of yours.”

I blushed and turned away, muttering something about lies and needing glasses.

“Well Mr Modest, shall we get going on this adventure of ours? I’ll drive.”

To Be Determined: Part 2 by Johayan

I looked nervously at Rowdy.  What about your project?  You could get so much done.

I knew what I should answer but then I realized that Rowdy was standing there in his boxers.  Not naked, but in his boxers.  Either he slept with them on or put them on during the night.  Hmm.

I found myself looking down, taking in the shapely farm boy body that the clothes had hidden from view last night.  He was shorter than I remember, but his boots probably added 3” to his height.  He looked better built with his clothes off

Fortitude: Part Forty-five by Cia Nordwell

Wildman darted between me and the guard.

“Stop!” My yell was strangled. I had to lower the gun; I’d almost pulled the trigger when he moved. My heart raced and sweat dripped down my back.

“Get me out of this thing,” Teddy said. He was straining at the bars of the cage.

Wildman had the guard on the floor, savagely beating him. He wasn’t moving, except with the blows that rained down with a strength that seemed to defy Wildman’s size and had everything to do with his fury.

“Just wait.” I holstered my weapon and rushed over. I didn’t

Double Trouble: Chapter 43 by Jon Keys

Christmas was coming and normally Darrin would be thrilled for the extended break. But with Ben’s death he couldn’t seem to bring himself to any real kind of resolution. Peace was beyond his imagination but it was harder each day to find some reason to go on. He’d made the mistake of telling Mitch about how he felt, and ended up with a weekly meeting with the university’s shrink.
“Those are hours I’ll never get back again,” Darrin muttered. “what?” Mitch asked. Damnit, when did he sneak into the room. Without turning he replied. “Nothing. Just the crazy guy muttering.”

Evans Woodworking: Chapter 13 by Jim Dunaway

“So Ethan, why don’t we begin with you telling me a little about yourself.”

“There’s really not a whole lot to tell. I’m 26 and I have my own business doing antique furniture restoration. I have two brothers and a sister. Do I tell her I’m gay? That might not be a good idea. She might have me committed.

“Do you have anyone special in your life?”

“Not now. It didn’t work out.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. What happened, if you don’t mind me asking.”

“He intentionally infected me with HIV.
