An Offer I Could Not Refuse: Part 16 by Michael Mandrake

The moment I sensed my father’s spirit in the room, I jerked awake. I turned to the left, staring into the weary brown eyes of the man everyone had told me I’d resembled. Now, I looked nothing like Jacob Winston. Though our facial features were similar, I had fangs and claws. Traits that Jacob and the entire Winston family hated. Though they hadn’t tried to revolt recently, the spirit was still there. My clan had always had the feeling we would one day rise again.

“Not now.”

“No, I won’t allow it,” I said to him.

“How could you? My youngest child. The one I held in my arms only days before I was murdered? If anything, you should be angrier than your older brothers and sisters? Why have you betrayed me?”

Hearing his sad words, I closed my eyes tight. “Though I am sorry for hurting you, I will not apologize for what I’ve done. I fell in love…”

Here Kitty Kitty: Chapter 8.5 by Carol Pedroso

“Maybe the hunters were a coincidence,” Meg offered. “I mean just because if they were working for Cheryl they wouldn’t have blown up the cave. The cave in would have killed Fran and then Cheryl wouldn’t be able to use her.”

Kitryn nodded thoughtfully. “I think we need to work on the assumption they are working together until it’s proved otherwise. It wouldn’t do to discount the hunters and then have them appear out of nowhere when we least expect them.”

They all agreed and Meg said she was going to try and see what gossip she could pick up amongst the females of the den.

Silence followed Kitryn’s explanation and everyone jumped when Elder Patrick slapped his hands down on the table.

“That woman thinks it’s okay to take other people’s powers? To help herself to more than fate decided she was capable of using? Who does she think she is? And to try and take a child? No, that will not be allowed.”

“Um, things may be worse.” The interruption came from a male further down the table.
Elder Patrick jerked his head up. “What do you mean Xander?”

“Well, I was informed on my way to this meeting that Seer Wanda is missing

Kitryn clenched his fists and pushed his rising anger down, hard. He spoke as calmly as he could so as not to scare Fran. “Fran, can you tell us anything else about what’s happening?”

Fran scrunched her nose up and seemed to be trying hard to concentrate on something.

“She think I should be hers. She had papa first. Mama took him. She got sent away.”

“Cheryl!” Meg interrupted.

Simon and Kitryn swung their attention to her.

“Who’s Cheryl?” Simon asked.

Kitryn was the one to answer. “She was the lover of my sister’s mate before they met.

In Pieces #1 (1.1) by Julie Lynn Hayes

“When will Daddy be here?” Eight-year-old Ryan Fremont turned  impatiently away from the living room window. He’d been practically glued to the spot ever since lunch, and only left when his babysitter shooed him away and told him to go play or watch TV. Mrs. Windom was also his next-door neighbor, and she’d been watching Ryan as long as he could remember—after school, and sometimes evenings and weekends. Normally, he was a very obedient charge, but today he was too excited to listen. Daddy was bringing him a surprise, and Ryan knew exactly what it was going to be.

A puppy! A little dog of his very own. That was the only thing in the world Ryan wanted, so what else could it be, right?

Two Girls and Some Ghouls: Part II by Avery Dawes

Last week, Private Mansfield politely asked if I could find out what became of his wife and young son after the war. I sensed the emotion behind his strong façade and gave him props for not shedding any ghost tears. Using the dates and locations he gave me, I thought I might have a chance at finding what had become of his family so it didn’t take much convincing for me to help him. His story had touched an unexpected nerve. He and his wife were newlyweds when he left to fight for Virginia. They’d gotten married once she found

Here Kitty Kitty: Chapter 7.3 by Carol Pedroso

“When can we go home?” “I want to go back to grandma’s house.” “I’m tired.”

The kits had been wonderful but the constant traveling was wearing on all of them and the kits most of all. Simon felt Kitryn tense and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Deep breath,” he muttered and received a tight smile.

Meg had moved to walk with the kits and she could be heard explaining once again why they couldn’t return to her house.

Simon looked at the sky. “We need to find shelter soon.” Kitryn nodded and they started checking the sides of the path

The Sheriff #57 (13.5) by Julie Lynn Hayes

Roy’s life had taken a complete one-eighty—and he couldn’t be happier about it. He’d begun to think he would never find someone to love, to have what Lee and Marshall had. And then, out of nowhere, when he wasn’t looking, it happened.  The trouble was he’d been searching for Miss Right all this time when it was actually Mr. Right, in the guise of Dustin Johnson.  If someone had suggested to Roy just a few months ago that he could fall in love with a man, he’d have laughed and said that wasn’t him, not that he had anything against the idea of two men being together. And yet just look at him now. He was with another man, and loving it.

He guessed the right person made all the difference, and gender didn’t really matter.

Slapout: Chapter 07 by Jon Keys
Gage stumbled into the kitchen, lifted a coffee cup from the dish drainer and poured himself a cup of the strong brew he and Ben setup every night so it would be ready when they woke the next morning. The aroma of coffee curled around him as he filled his cup with the dark liquid. He mixed in the sugar and cream he liked until the drink matched the color of milk chocolate.
He lifted the cup and sipped at the steaming liquid. The heat washed down his throat and infused through him along with caffeine. Gage revealed in the sensation with his eyes half closed. He walked toward Alec with the intent of waking him for breakfast. As he reached down, he couldn’t help but see the dried remains of his orgasm.

Here Kitty, Kitty: Chapter 6.2 by Carol Pedroso

Meg insisted everyone call her grandma and by the time the kits woke up from their nap Simon was fully up to date.

Simon sighed. “So, we have a rogue witch to worry about. As well as hunters and maybe the vamp who changed me. Have I missed anyone?”

Kitryn shook his head while dishing up the kits’ food. “No, that sounds about right. We need to work out a plan. My group may be gone, but what if this witch targets other shifters or paranormals? And we need to make sure the hunters haven’t managed to track us at all.
