Trent sat tapping his pencil against the table Josh had made for him a few years earlier. He thought it was one of their early anniversary gifts. Josh had gone to a lot of trouble with the details. Most of the wood was dark from stain but inlayed blond pieces added a level of meticulous craftsmanship that Trent appreciated.

But Trent was only distracting himself from the conversation he needed to have with Josh, about Danny. He’d got up last night to check on a noise he thought he’d heard and happened on Danny and Rob getting off.    

Demon: Chapter Forty Five by Nephy Hart

The cat’s purr thrums through my body and makes me smile for no reason other than that the warmth of its body and the warm, musky smell make me happy. I bury my face in its soft fur and sigh with pleasure.

Sensing Tian’s approach, I raise my head. He seems shocked but not afraid. When he hold out his hand, the cat butts it with its head, it’s purr increasing in intensity. Tian squats beside me and puts his arm around me.

“Welcome Massterss.”

Where did that voice come from? It was so strange. Almost as if…. I gaze at Tian who stares back, his eyes wide. “Was that…?”

“Like right now?” Lee asked. He nipped lightly at Marshall’s bottom lip. Damn, that hurt so good.

“No, not right now. Some other time. Right now I just want you in me,” Marshall said. “I want you to make me yours forever.” Not like they hadn’t done that before, many times, but tonight was special. Tonight was the beginning of the rest of their lives. This time would be different, at least in Marshall’s mind.

Without asking, Lee removed the bonds that held Marshall’s feet in place and eased his legs onto the bed.

“What are you doing here?”The tiger’s eyes were dull, and he shook his head. Was he stupid, foolhardy, or did I deprive a few too many brain cells of oxygen? Surrounded by a half-circle of werekin and with me in his face… he was in a no-win scenario. Maybe he needed a little encouragement. “I’m told you work for Trein. Do his dirty work. That true?” The tiger stared at me, and I growled. “You broke in here and tried to hurt me, or kill me, and do who knows what to Ritch. Because of you, I’m going to.
