Sandy picked up the NDA from the table and read through it.

Standard stuff here – he thought as he read it.

It wasn’t until he got to the ‘Remedies and Enforcement’ section that he stopped and realized this was far from a standard contract. It was considered valid until his death and enforcement for violation included a public accounting of all of his actions while employed on the farm and all of his assets up to and including his person.

What the fuck is going on out here?! – he was curious but he wasn’t sure he was that curious.

The Garret Farm: Part 12 by J Ray Lamb

Dinner was over and the five men sat around the table talking about the farm and what Sandy could expect if he was brought on as an intern.

Jason and Garret were sure he would work out just fine but Trent wasn’t sold on him yet. Trent had also noted the expensive electric sports car that Sandy was driving and it didn’t fit with someone who wanted to go into animal husbandry and ag management.

What was silently hanging over the conversation was the extra-curricular activities that happened on the farm without warning and without regard for who was around.

The Garret Farm: Part 11 by J Ray Lamb

Jason, Trent, and Garret were seated around the dining room that also doubled as a conference table. Colin had put together a meat and cheese tray which took pride of place in the middle of the table. Two coffee pots sat on either side with cream and sugar there as well.

The intern candidate was supposed to arrive at 3pm but didn’t roll into the up until almost 3:30.

As the doorbell rang, Colin went to get the door and Garret just muttered, “So much for first impressions.” causing Jason and Trent to laugh.

An Unholy Alliance #20 (5.4) by Julie Lynn Hayes’

As I approached the front door, I found myself assailed by an unaccustomed feeling of nervousness, waves of butterflies pirouetting inside my stomach. Could it be the knowledge that my quest might finally be reaching an end? Or maybe I feared the opposite. Would I learn something I didn’t want to know? What was of greater concern to me, bad news or no news at all?

Either way, I intended to find out. I’d come too far to back down now.

Jason had forgotten what he was going to say to Trent and Trent was silent with shame and guilt.

They both shrugged and went back to eating. Colin was busy hustling around the kitchen and returning calls from builders to get quotes on the new mess hall for the farm.

Colin wasn’t sure why Murphy was wanting a mess hall for the farm as the farm wasn’t that big. Just over 50 people made the place run like a well oiled machine. Not exactly an army battalion but enough people that Murphy had decided he wanted a mess hall.

The Garret Farm: Part 8 by J Ray Lamb

The farm continued on as if nothing had happened that morning but yet everything had changed.

Jason was lost in his own thoughts, betrayed by his carnal desires; Trent was still trying to process what had happened to Murphy, then adding Jason’s actions on to it, he was at a complete loss. Murphy was in much the same mental state and had locked himself away in his office.

Only Colin seemed to be taking it all in stride, he had already lunch started for farm management and was starting meal planning for the farm as Murphy had planned on making
