The Minnesota Murders: Part 1 by J Ray Lamb

Every news station in the Twin Cities was leading with the story the horrific discovery of a burning body in Black Dog park in Burnsville.

The body was burned beyond recognition and had been sent to the BCA for identification. Police were asking for any information regarding the case, but given the relatively remote location and easy in and out access to Interstate 35W, the chances of getting any good leads seemed remotely small.

Across the Twin Cities, in Andover, the murderer sat watching the news with sadistic glee.

The murderer flicked off the TV and said to themselves, “Yes! …

Here Kitty Kitty: Chapter 24.1 by Carol Pedroso

Jenny kept her senses turned up full as she crept down the abandoned hallway. The dust was thick, showing no one had been down it in a long time, however, she didn’t want to take any chances. Faint voices pulled her forward and after a few yards, she put her ear to the wall.

She had to pull her head back slightly as Cheryl’s yelling voice echoed out.

“How did this happen? I told you none of those traitors were to be allowed to meet their mates.”

Another quieter voice answered, “The cat met his mate before they even arrived at the bears.

Denied: Chapter One Hundred and Four by Cia Nordwell

A hissing roar drowned out the shouts in the distance, and there was a flurry of activity around me. I still couldn’t see, couldn’t move, didn’t really want to. I was tired, so tired. In my short life, I’d lived lifetimes of pain and suffering, and I was done.

Regret pushed at the corners of my brain but not enough to want to stop it.

“Aparoe? He’s not breathing!”

“I’m trying. Stay calm, he needs you calm.”

“He’s not breathing! I can’t feel him! No! Get off me! Deke! Stop it!”

What was happening? Deke… that asshole had better… No.

Denied: Chapter One Hundred and Three by Cia Nordwell

“Aparoe! Danie!” The bellows beside me were jarring, as much as the hands on my body. “Gods, get this damn thing off him. Fucking Freska and her technology.”

“It did what it was supposed to do. And I designed most of it,” Danie said. “The suit is locked into his ports. You have to disengage them here and here or you’re going to hurt him more.”

“By the stars!” The smell of burning flesh and scorched metal only grew stronger. Deke was there too, his voice somewhere near Captain’s. “That was inside him. It’s fried.”

“The circuits compartmentalized his mind

Tristan winced at the sharp sting as Carl’s claw cut into his palm. He quickly held his hand over the bowl and four drops of bright red blood fell in before the cut magically sealed itself.

“Chant and keep chanting until I tell you to stop,” Nev murmured into Tristan’s ear. Tristan nodded and began the chant.

The rush of power that rushed through him almost made him falter but he managed to stay on track and not miss a word.

Adrift: Chapter 57 by J. Alan Veerkamp

The Nightingale’s gymnasium fostered a seed of jealously in Arad. Sleek, well-equipped and more square footage than the Ansariland’s, it was a beautiful thing. A padded sparring ring sat dead center with everything surrounding it, including the crew as spectators.

Vosh entered from the adjacent locker room wearing only a snug pair of black shorts. Less defined than Roku, he still packed an impressive furry physique. Meaty and powerful, the man was big everywhere. The clinging shorts proved that. Arad’s full attention flashed to Roku as he stripped out of his shirt. Muscles flexed and tensed as he readied himself.

In Pieces #69 (17.2) by Julie Lynn Hayes

When the first set ended, the band took a break and the dance club switched to a computerized music system. Ryan expected Ben to take a seat at the table he was sharing with Marge and relax before the next set, but apparently Ben had other ideas. Standing in front of Ryan, he reached for his hand as he swung his hips to the rhythm of the music that surged around them.

“C’mon, baby, let’s you and me shake it up a little!’

How could Ryan refuse such an invitation?  He couldn’t.

Here Kitty Kitty; Chapter 23.2 by Carol Pedroso

Kitryn sighed as he looked around the group sitting at the extended conference table. Three more elders had arrived. Elder Jamison was a fae representative who was also a friend of Carl’s; Elder Orion was a dwarf who was short even for his kind and had to sit on a booster seat to be able to reach the table comfortably. Lastly, there was Elder Dorian who was a Goblin. He had a habit of tapping his claws on the table and Kitryn was getting close to asking if someone had some handcuffs he could borrow.

The cargo door slammed shut with Arad’s hand on the access pad. Green text switched to red.

***LOCKED — Rank Access Enabled***

The Ansariland would only allow a captain or above to open the door and grant access to supplies and the sleeping DemiShou inside. When it was still the Midas Ascending, Arad remembered Serene’s attitude and all the restrictions based on his status. Repeating the process made him feel a bit hypocritical, but he promised to protect Shichi and Hachi, and he refused to break his word. The Nightingale’s crew didn’t need to know about them to repair the ship.

Adrift: Chapter 50 by J. Alan Veerkamp

Roku tensed under Arad, and not in a carnal way. His eager erection flagged, and slid from its welcome home to slump between his thighs, the moment lost. The interruption gnawed at Arad. In full force, the craving stupidly urged him to finish what he’d started and answer the com afterwards. Thankfully he had enough sense not to listen to the newfound demands of his sex drive.

Before he tried to continue, he climbed from Roku’s lap and unlocked the cuffs using the key on the console. Fun time was over. Roku practically pounced on Franc’s old station, where sensors struggled to pull basic information from the incoming call.
