Two sets of tiny chests swelled and deflated as the twins slept soundly in their crib. Freshly fed, their cherubic faces gave no indication of the chaotic night before. Small puffs of air came through their tiny pursed lips, sweetening their appearance and hiding the duality of their nature. Fergus leaned over the crib, his calloused fingertips ghosting over the wisps of dark hair on their heads, taking care not to disturb them. Royal and Regis hadn’t slept last night, but he couldn’t be prouder.
“The odds were against you. You know that, don’t you, Roy? Don’t you, Reg?”

Londe was magnificent, was perfect, his white coat shining in the sun, his horn sparkling as he threatened the enemies who dared try to harm me, his mate.
And it was exactly what they wanted. What they needed. “Londe, no!” I shouted, even calling through our bond to get his attention, but his anger was so strong he didn’t hear me, couldn’t, over the pure rage. Chan set his beer on the coffee table, set his plate beside it, then moved closer to Evan and enveloped him in a hug. Maybe it was impulsive of him, but the embrace just felt right. He heard Evan release a sigh and relax into Chan’s arms.
“What did I do to deserve this from you?” Evan said softly.
“It’s just for being you,” Chan replied honestly. He turned his face up toward Evan’s, trying to gauge the other man’s emotions. Evan’s eyes seemed a little wet.
