Ancalagon: Chapter Forty-six by Cia Nordwell

I didn’t want to have a moment in front of the Kardoval, but stars… never mind. I wasn’t going to ignore this need to touch Garjah for them or anyone. I slid one hand across his far cheek, turning his head toward me, then pulled him down for a brief kiss. As hard as it was to resist, I didn’t part my lips and drink in his scent to taste him further. This was enough.

A flurry of movement and murmurs broke through my distraction. I leaned away from Garjah. He blinked at me several times, and I waited for

An Unholy Alliance #5 (2.2) by Julie Lynn Hayes

“Morning, Char! Feeling better? Come sit down by the fire. I’m making us some breakfast. I’ll be done here in just a second.”

Again with the familiarity?  I didn’t know whether I was mad about that or just irritated because he talked so damn much. Being on my own, I wasn’t used to early morning conversations. But I bit my tongue rather than let him know he’d managed to annoy me. Oh well, I wouldn’t have to endure him for much longer, now that I had shaken off my torpor of the night before. Couldn’t hurt to eat a little something before I took my leave, could it?  Although there was the nagging question of what to do

Ancalagon: Chapter Twenty-eight by Cia Nordwell

Something didn’t feel right. My mouth was gummy, and I’d kill for a glass of water. I cracked my eyes open, but they were crusted over and blurry. “Waaa.” Oh stars, it really was dry.

“Essell? Can you open your eyes?”

“Nuuh.” I shook my head a tiny bit side to side. “Waat.” The word came out in a long exhale. I groaned, “Er.”

“Get him a drink.”

“Water?”

“No, he needs the nutrient fluid.”

If I could have wrinkled my nose, I would have. Nutrient fluid? That sounded awful.

It was. It so was. The fluid was thick, trickled

Ancalagon: Chapter Twenty-seven by Cia Nordwell

When Garjah said he planned to stay with me, I hadn’t realized exactly what that meant. I should have. His quarters were bigger than mine but not that much bigger. There was no extra bunk to unlatch from the wall, and he wasn’t about to roll a bed in from the corridor.

No, when Garjah came out of his bathroom facilities in a pair of extremely brief and tight shorts, he helped me in there. They’d changed me while I was out, so I was in a much looser pair of the same shorts and a loose shirt. Exhaustion weighed

Ancalagon: Chapter Twenty-five by Cia Nordwell

“I’m glad humans are predictable,” Timok said.

“That’s enough.” Garjah crouched beside Bouncer’s exercise cage in the hold, one set of hands flat on the floor, the other on the door. We were hiding in one of the tubes they’d set up. It was dark, and small, and I could hide from reality. Bouncer lay across my legs. “Can I come in, Essell?”

I buried my face against Bouncer’s neck. “I want to stay here.” He was purring against me, nuzzling my cheek.

“You can stay there. I just want to come in.”

Phases of Moon: Part 24 by J. Alan Veerkamp

Dirt spit out from under Jimmy’s tires as he came to a hard stop on the service road next to Fergus’s truck and police cruiser right where he said to meet. He didn’t want to offend his future alpha, but the interruption—and ruining his first real opportunity to court Sawyer had his hackles risen. He pressed his palm over the business card in his vest pocket, making sure it was still there, hoping to calm himself down. His wolf hadn’t stopped snarling and clawing at his spine since he’d walked away from his mate an hour ago.

Crap. He called Sawyer his mate again.

Unicorn Quests: Chapter Thirty-nine by Cia Nordwell

“You need sleep.” Londe had come before it was his turn. “You’ve been taking most of the night watches.”

It’d only been three nights since we’d finally defeated Balasamar, and since Wenn had given his life to save him. I still wrestled with the guilt, and it didn’t help that I refused to allow Londe to carry Wenn’s lifeless form.

The one we placed so carefully at the end of each trek so he could face the sky, his palms touching the earth of his birth. Tinn spoke words over him as we knelt. He’d been so brave, so willing

Here Kitty Kitty: Chapter 26.1, by Carol Pedroso

Tristan kept his senses open but there was no one to be seen. It seemed the prisoner had been telling the truth about how stupid Cheryl’s hired scum were. Once a section was checked they didn’t leave any guards, and no one bothered to recheck.

They turned into a hallway and Kitryn let out a snarl when a man appeared out of nowhere. He then let out a grunt when Tristan barrelled into his side knocking him out of the path of a mage ball just in time.

“Father.” Tristan’s anguished yell echoed through the hallway.

Kersin Nirthfell sneered.

In Pieces #84 (20.2) by Julie Lynn Hayes

They sat out on the patio and talked for a while, giving Ben and Cassie a chance to get to know one another. Ryan was very happy that his two favorite people in the world could finally meet. Afterward, they carried in their luggage and took it to the room they’d once shared. Cassie had made a few changes in the room in the short time Ryan had been gone, but they were good ones. She’d taken out the two single beds and replaced them with a full-sized bed with matching furniture. Ryan was just as surprised as Ben.

“This looks great,” he kept saying, and Cassie beamed.

“I was hoping you would like it,” she said with a knowing glance between the two

The Sycamore Psychopomp – Part 1 by J. Ray Lamb

Aaryn looked out the sliding glass door of his house and surveyed the backyard. There was a dilapidated aluminum shed and a large home propane tank on the west side with the garage and sycamore tree taking up most of the east side.

A small pile of dirt was all that remained from digging the foundations of the garage and from putting the basement under the house.

All in all, it was a great backyard to raise kids in except for the neighbors to the west. Growing up, it was the “Doc Hamman” place…
