The Stormlords: Part 15 by Ravon Silvius

Rowen had his new room set up quickly, despite the fact that Elise came in partway through and watched as he unpacked. She stayed quiet up until he pushed the last drawer of his new dresser shut.

“Are you all done?” Elise finally piped up, taking one step further into the room. He nodded, but she didn’t seem to notice. “I like it. You didn’t leave anything out of anything. It’s really neat.”

He shrugged and watched as she circled the room once. “Can I show Volkes and Sharon the room when they get back?”

The Caretaker: Chapter 7 by Rob Colton

 “Hudson? Are you okay?”

Chris’s voice sounded so far away. I opened my eyes to find his blurry face over mine. He helped me to a sitting position, and every joint in my body protested being moved.

 “Ow…”

I blinked a few times until the room came into focus. The caretaker’s dried husk of a body lay next to me, his hands stuck outward as if he was still trying to grab me.

“Oh god, that’s gross.” I grabbed Chris’s jacket and pulled myself closer. He helped me to my feet, and I looked around the room as I stood.

Let Me In, Chapter 29, By Carol Pedroso

“We need to find Hayley and question her. Now!” Cade stated. They had spent the remainder of the morning and part of the afternoon trying unsuccessfully to find the missing second. finally, hunger had won out and they’d returned to Cade and Louis’ place for a late lunch.

“But how do we find her?” Louis asked as he munched on a sandwich and stroked a hand up and down Cade’s arm to keep him calm.

“Who here has met this woman?” Jaydon asked suddenly.

The other three all raised their hands.

“Okay, who has touched her mind? For any reason

Moving Forward #11 (3.4) by Julie Lynn Hayes

What the hell?

Marshall turned his head to look at Lee, trying to figure out what he was up to, but Lee’s attention was focused on the two men on the other side of the booth. Marshall followed suit to find Dustin staring straight at him. They eyed one another for a long moment before Dustin dropped his gaze to Denver.

“I think that’s a right generous offer, what do you think, Den?”

“Are you sure it’s no trouble, Lee?” Denver asked.

“None at all,” Lee assured him. “Just makes sense. We’re all going to the same place. Why use two cars?”

The Adored One: Chapter 12 by Kazy Reed

A voice called out from the street. “Trace? Are you out here?”

Michael sighed and disappeared, leaving the cat on the wet ground. Was it horrible that I wanted to murder an angel? When I saw Max running down the alley at me, I gently pushed the kitten behind me. Max took me by the shoulders and gasped when he saw my ear. “Oh, shit! You’re bleeding! What happened?”

Before I could come up with an explanation, a loud purr bubbled up from the pavement. Once again, I pushed the kitten back out of sight, but it wasn’t having that.

Innocence & Carnality Part 19 by Mann Ramblings

“As long as you’ve been hidden away, I bet it’s been more than just a good afternoon.” With a conspiratorial wink, Vivian sang her words at me like we were longtime friends, as if I would forget her rancorous scene from my arrival.

Playing along, I enacted a false smile that would make my mother proud. “It has been a good day or two.”

Vivian’s teasing could be considered innocent enough by most, but I was raised amongst the vapid sniping of wealthy aristocrats who spent their time practicing the subtle art of character assassination. Anything Vivian could learn would be used against me in her petty intrigues.

Jordan’s Second Chance 5.1 by TC Collins

“I’m not sure if this is a good idea. Whoever is in that car could see us coming,” Jordan muttered, slowly creeping toward the dark-colored sedan.
“We want to catch this bastard by surprise, that’s why we decided to wait until dark and pretended we were leaving,” Jonas replied.
“Since it’s your plan, you’re going back for the car.”
Jonas snorted. “Quit being a sourpuss, Wynter won’t stay mad at you forever.”
“That’s easy for you to say, you weren’t the one dodging shoe missiles,” Jordan growled.

Evans Woodworking: Chapter 22 by Jim Dunaway

“Oh shit. Jordan. Wait!” Alicia raced to the elevators but she was too late. Troy caught up to her just as the doors opened again.

“Alicia, wait!” Troy called out as the elevator doors were closing again.

Jordan chased after Toby, catching up to him in the parking lot just before he jumped into his car. “You mother-fucking cock-sucking sonofabitch!” Jordan yelled as he began to pummel Toby’s face. “I’m going to tear you apart piece-by-piece. You won’t have to worry about getting arrested for trying to kill my best friend.

No Flash: Chapter Four by Cia Nordwell

The bang of his locker door slamming shut was loud in the quiet room. Ben sighed as leaned down to tie his shoes.

“Tired?”

Ben wanted to bang his head against his locker, but the last thing he wanted to do was stick around the hospital if Doctor Mankler was coming on shift. No concussions for him.

“It was normal today. Hopefully you’ll have a quiet shift. I’m just ready for a few days off.” A rarity, Ben had secured three days in a row away from the ER.

“I have Monday off. Want to meet up for a drink?”
